For the planet

The Lactalis Group's CSR strategy is part of the company's strategy for profitable and responsible growth. Lactalis' CSR Roadmap is based on the United Nations Global Compact and seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The dairy sector, of which the Lactalis Group is part, is particularly involved in ten of those objectives, some of which include:

  • In helping to sustain over 150 million producers throughout the world, including in the most disadvantaged regions, the dairy sector is supporting livelihoods and economic participation.

It also generates employment, promotes decent work and reduces inequalities.

  • As milk is a widely available essential source of protein, nutrients and energy, it is one factor

in the eradication of hunger and malnutrition and the promotion of health and wellbeing.

  • Finally, due to its presence in all locations, animal feed agriculture and industry’s role in reducing greenhouse gases, the dairy sector is an important contributor to promoting responsible forms of production and consumption. It plays a role in supporting initiatives focused on climate change, land ecosystems and biodiversity. The dairy sector also plays a role in the management of water and sanitation resources, including through the adoption of practices informed by science and industry experience.

Our current production methods contribute to those impacts; therefore, we have a responsibility as well as a role to play. In 2020 and 2021, we consulted our stakeholders, identified our priorities, measured our impacts and made our commitments. Our top priorities are:

  • Actions against climate change

  • Responsible packaging and the circular economy

  • Animal Health and Welfare

  • Protecting forest and biodiversity
